The Story Behind The Woman

Contrary to what one might see today, Ms. Hamilton's life hasnt been a "crystal stair".  She has certainly seen her share of heartache and struggle.  However, coming up on the rough side of the mountain didn't break her.  It built her.  Instead of using hardship as a crutch to explain failure, Ms Hamilton used that hardship as a rung on her mental ladder, each step taking her higher and higher.  "After all of my struggles and failures I decided to change the rules of the game.  In doing so, I stopped being the hunted and became the hunter.  As an entrepreneur, if we don't get out there and hunt, we don't eat.  We cannot afford to entertain glass ceilings.  If we stop climbing we stop existing."

Felicia arrived in Alabama as a teenager along with her mother an five younger siblings during one of the darkest moments of her young life--and even at 16 she had seen many.  The New Jersey family of seven left their home in the middle of the night with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.  Her mother was on a mission.  She was trying to get her and her children away from the rampages of an abusive situation.  Not having enough money for all of the tickets didn't stop them.  They hid one of the younger children and took a chance.  "We had to get out of there.  It was so critical that even though we could have been kicked off the bus at any time, my mom kept going.  We rode that bus more than 25 hours without food or water.  We arrived at my grandmother's house travel-worn, hungry and uncertain of the future.  But we never looked back."  [READ MORE]
